it’s a little expensive but Nutro Max puppy small bites is a premium food. No artificial ingredients, colors or preservatives. Less expensive is Pedigree but I would make sure there is no wheat, corn, or artificial colors. Alot of dogs are allergic to these.

I have 2 dogs. They are both a short haired dogs. We usually leave them outside during the day while we are at work. Today we left for work and left them outside. I have always cringed at the site of outside dogs they are either free roaming, tied up with a crappy dog house for cover or in a kennel all day and night. If you own a dog and keep him outside morning noon and night, why even own a dog anyway! They are part of the family and I can’t imagine them being happy out there all the time. They need walked, socialized and to be in good health and clean smelling. I live in a big city where alot of the people keep their dogs outside and it’s an inconvience to not be able to sleep soundly at night. They use these dogs as burglar alarms or they sell drugs and want some type of alert system, so they have dogs tied up in various spot over their yards. Even with a large kennel your dog is not getting what it needs in life. Why have a dog if you aren’t going to care for them properly? Why not let them out during the day and crate them at night?

you want her to have babies? Well, then you will need a mate for her, but I would strongly suggest getting her fixed and not having babies. For every puppy she has, it means one less home for a dog in a shelter. Plus she’s still young of a dog to be having her own puppies.

I would be bringing the dog in if the temps drop below freezing, or the wind chill makes it feel that cold. But this also depends on if the dog house has any kind of heating, which means you could do a lower temp safely as the dog has a warm place to retreat when too cold.

My dogs have never walked on a leash before because they live in a dog house outside. They are about ten years old. I really want to take my dog for a walk, but whenever I put the leash on them their tails drop and they won’t start walking. Only when I push the leash really hard will it go a few steps. Please help!

I have a one year old boxer who is visiting with our breeder and her dogs. He is constantly trying to submit the other dogs. He does not bite but he does a lot of growling and trying to jump up on the other dogs back. The other dogs know he is not fighting so they just stand their ground. I’m moving out to LA from a small town, and I’ve always loved german shepherds. Not only that but they are very protective. If I get one and work 8 hour days, and hire someone to come and walk the dog during the day do you think a german shepherd would be satisfied in a good sized home with one owner? I’d also take the dog on walks when I got home, to dog parks, beaches, basically everywhere i go.

I m buying a male puppy from a litter that only has 2 puppies in it, and the other puppy is a female. Will the puppies be unhealthy or have something wrong with them? They will have to checkups in a month but i wanted to know if they will be okay?

No, they will probably be a little healthier actually. Since mom wasn’t overburdened by too many puppies, her body could put all her energy into just the 2!!!

i noticed the other night that the pads on the bottom of 3 of her feet seem to be puffy. they arent SWOLLEN, and they dont seem to be causing her any pain, but id still like to know why they are like that.

It could be infected if she scraped her paw and got in her litter pan.
A swollen paw can mean a number of different things: An infection with or without an abscess, an insect bite, or sting, or tissue damage.

We have a 7 week old german shepherd and she has generally been a great dog so far. The only problem is I work during the day and my wife works 3 nights a week as a nurse. So we don’t know what to do with the dog during the day. She’s fine in her crate at night but by 7 am she’s is ready to be out and she cries the whole time if we put her in there. My wife has to sleep during some days so what should we do?

He barks constantly, unless he’s sleeping. Every little noise makes him bark, he barks out of the blue. I won’t even mention what he goes through when the door bell rings or when someone is in the house. I have 3 big dogs (2 labs and a foster boxer) so I can’t really let them “meet&greet” whoever is at the door. They’re big 80-90lbs dogs.
His behavior changed when we boarded him and his “baby brother” for a week. The dogs were so loud and aggressive when they came out of that PetsMart Hotel.We tried obedience training with my chocolate lab and didn’t work; treats & toys doesn’t care for; I spanked his rear – he doesn’t care for that; we got a shock-collar and he destroyed it. Please help! I love my dogs so much and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to solve this issue. Thank you !
He’s 2 1/2 years old, so he’s still young. The dog doesn’t care for bones or anything when there’s an “intruder” in the house. He just wants attention. The way he managed to ruin the shock collar – found it on the counter and chewed it.

give her only dog food, no other choices, when she gets hungry enough she will eat it.
